Rumi (Jalal uddin muhammad Balkhi) was a thirteenth century persian poet.Moulana Rumi was born in september 1207.Moulana Rumi has been greatly appreciated by muslims around the world because of his spiritual legacy in the past seven centuries. In English Speaking world Moulana Jalal uddine Balkhi Rumi is simply known as Rumi. But if you get to Muslim world calling him "Rumi"might considered disrespectful.Muslims call his full name and acutually add "Rahmatullah ale" (means:may Allah be pleased with him).Along with other Languages his work has influenced urdu and persian Litrature.Urdu and Persian languages are very much alike sharing 40 percent of vocabulary.
Rumi's Poetic work is often divided into various categories, including the RUBAYAT and GHAZAL.His book "Masnavi Manawi" is very popular.Out of Respect and because of it's islamic teachings many great sufis regarded this as the Persian-Language Quran. Moulana Rumi's other major work is "Diwan e Shams e Tabrizi".This book is named in the honor of Rumi's "Murshid".Murshid means "Spiritual Master".It has approximately 35000 persian Couplets and 2000 Rabayat. It is interesting that many people get confused and think "Diwan e Shams e Tabrizi"is written by Shams Tabrizi.Because Shams Tabrizi himself was a famous sufi.

I died as a mineral and became a plant, I died as plant and rose to animal, I died as animal and I was Man. Why should I fear? When was I less by dying? Yet once more I shall die as Man, to soar With angels bless'd; but even from angelhood I must pass on: all except God doth perish. When I have sacrificed my angel-soul, I shall become what no mind e'er conceived. Oh, let me not exist! for Non-existence Proclaims in organ tones, To Him we shall return.
